Scarlett Johansson appears on “Saturday Night Live”
Parodies Republican Senator Katie Britt
In Response to Biden’s State of the Union
Scarlett Johansson made a cameo appearance on “Saturday Night Live” as Senator Katie Britt representing the Republican Party in a skit rebutting President Joe Biden’s State of the Union on March 7.
Dressed as Britt, Johansson firmly raised one hand and echoed Britt’s remarks in her kitchen, shouting about Biden’s “successful” qualities.
Johansson said, “As you can see, I’m not just a simple mom. I’m a wife, a mother, and the craziest woman in Target.”
The end of the skit parodied a scene from “Get Out,” the Oscar-winning film by director Jordan Peele, a movie satirizing racial discrimination. When Johansson pulled out a teacup and stirred it, Kenan Thompson froze with tears like the main character in the film.
This skit was created in response to Senator Britt’s criticism speech video that immediately followed President Biden’s national address.
Her 20-minute speech shocked her local community. Her face seemed to be on the verge of crying, then suddenly changed to a determined expression, and she continued her speech exaggeratedly.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of “Turning Point USA” and an ardent supporter of former President Trump, said, “I’m sure Katie Britt is a loving mother and person, but this speech is not what we needed.”
Shortly after the speech, several videos parodying Britt were uploaded to short-form content platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.
