Harshly Criticized M2
Completely Transformed by Simple Duck-Taping
Surprises with a Different Look
The BMW M2, which had gained much anticipation from fans even before its release, faced disappointment upon the reveal of its design. While the design of the M2 caused controversy not only domestically but also overseas, it has become a hot topic as a designer used duct tape to modify the design of the M2.
It added lines and covered certain portions using red and black duct tape to make the design appear different. The designer in question is the head designer at Adro, the body kit specialist company, who has work experience at Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Hyundai, and Rivian.
Harshly Criticized for Angular Air Intake Design and Excessive Volume
Looking at the original design of the M2, angular designs that don’t quite match with a sports car were applied in several areas. At the front, angular designs were applied to the kidney grill and headlights, creating a robust image. The lower air intake is divided into three parts in completely square shapes.
Various aerodynamic parts, including a front bumper, side skirts, and lip spoiler, were also applied. The fender was enlarged and extended. A quad muffler was applied at the bottom to emphasize the image of a high-performance vehicle. The volume and angular lines, reminiscent of big muscles, emphasize masculinity.
Front End Smoothly Changed
Slimmer Headlight Design
The design of the M2 has been drastically modified. The protruding air intake and surrounding area of the kidney grill were filled with red duct tape matching the body color, creating a smoother front end. The grill, which stuck out aggressively like nostrils, looks more natural, and pieces of black tape were added along the grill line for additional detail.
The air intake, which was divided into three squares, was changed to trapezoid shapes, and pieces of black tape were also used here to add a design highlight. In particular, part of the inside of the angular headlights was covered with tape to look sharp and impressive. The sporty impression has become stronger just with the radius of the angular headlights.
Lengthening Tail Lamps
the Edges Made Sharp
The rear focused on changes in the tail lamps. Pieces of tape were added to the chunky tail lamps, extending them to the vicinity of the center of the tailgate. Black tape was used to extend the line and make the edges sharper. With its bumper, wide fender, and ducktail spoiler, the rear attracted attention by creating a completely different look just by changing the design of the tail lamps.
