Pop star Britney Spears (42) has announced her retirement from the music industry.
On the 4th (local time), Britney Spears stated through her social networking service that she will “never return to the music industry” thus debunking rumors of working on a new album.
Earlier, foreign media outlet Page Six reported that Britney was in contact with producers to release a new album for the first time in 10 years. The outlet stated, “Recording has not yet started because the project is just beginning to materialize.”
In response, Britney firmly denied the rumors stating, “Some media say I’m in contact with people for a new album. But I will never return to the music industry,” thus affirming her lack of intention to return to the music scene.
Britney also addressed claims that her recently published memoir was released without her approval. She dismissed the controversy surrounding the memoir as “far from the truth,” and expressed satisfaction with her life after the memoir’s release stating, “I am so loved and blessed.”
In her memoir, *The Woman In Me*, released last October, Britney caused a stir by confessing that she had an abortion on her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s child.
The memoir sold 1.1 million copies in its first week of release, and upon its ascension to bestseller status, Britney stated, “I poured my heart and soul into the memoir,” and expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support of fans and readers worldwide.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears debuted in the music industry in 1998 with the single “Baby One More Time,” and secured her place as a global pop star by recording the highest album sales among female singers in the 2000s.
