Actress Jeong Yu Mi highlighted the competitiveness of her upcoming film, Sleep.
The movie depicts the story of the two people’s efforts to unravel the terrifying secret of the husband’s sleep-related abnormal behavior that covers the happy newlywed couple, Hyun Soo (Lee Sun Kyun) and Soo Jin (Jeong Yu Mi), like a nightmare.
What is the competitiveness of Sleep according to Jeong Yu Mi?
Jeong Yu Mi, the lead actress of Sleep, mentioned the running time as one of the film’s competitive factors.
Jeong Yu Mi said, “‘Sleep’ is a movie that contains fun within a short period of time.” She added, “I haven’t watched many movies recently, but I was happy to see a movie with a relatively short running time after a long time.” She emphasized the movie’s short running time.
The running time of Sleep is 94 minutes, which is more than 30 minutes shorter compared to the summer films released earlier, such as “Milsu,” “Concrete Utopia,” “Unofficial Operation,” and “The Moon,” which had running times of 129-130 minutes. It is a suitable movie for today’s audience, who prefer shorter videos as they become accustomed to short-form content.
Jeong Yu Mi praised the director’s creativity, saying, “It is a smart debut work by a rookie director.” Sleep was previously screened at the Cannes International Film Festival and received favorable reviews from the press, announcing the birth of a noteworthy rookie director this year.
Jeong Yu Mi said, “The script was concise, which I liked, and the working process was the same.” She added, “After reading the script for the first time, I was curious about the director who wrote such a script, and when I met him, I liked him even more, so I decided to appear in the film.” She further explained, “Even if the script is good, I don’t choose a project based solely on that. The director is the person who speaks the most on set, and in that aspect, I felt that I had a good connection with director Yoo Jae-sun.”
Sleep is a thriller film that portrays the story of a newlywed couple who loses their peaceful daily life due to their husband’s sleep disorder. Jeong Yu Mi and Lee Sun Kyun starred in the film.
