Famed pop singer Britney Spears (42) has sold over a million copies in the first week of her newly released memoir.

U.S. entertainment outlet TMZ reported on the 2nd (Korean time), “Britney’s memoir sold 1.1 million copies in its first week. It’s an encouraging achievement.”

Upon her memoir becoming a bestseller, Britney expressed her gratitude, saying, “I poured my heart and soul into this memoir,” and “I am thankful for the unwavering support of fans and readers worldwide.” The sales figures include printed copies released in the U.S., pre-sales, e-books, and audiobooks.

On the day her book was published, Britney Spears posted on her social media that “The Woman in Me” is “the best-selling memoir in history among celebrity autobiographies.” However, AP pointed out that ‘The Woman in Me’ is not the best-selling memoir in history, nor the best-selling memoir of 2023. Prince Harry’s memoir ‘Spare,’ released in January this year, sold 1.6 million copies in its first week.

According to TMZ, Britney recently published a memoir detailing her feelings and experiences during her superstar days. The book includes conflicts with her father, who claimed to be her legal guardian and managed all her assets. It also includes stories about pop star and Britney’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.

Immediately after its publication, the book received rave reviews from critics as a convincing explanation of the fame Britney Spears experienced and the ongoing pain she still endures.

In the memoir, Britney revealed that “Timberlake did not like pregnancy and suggested an abortion,” and “The abortion was one of the most painful experiences I’ve had in my life.” Britney dated Timberlake from 1999 to 2002 for three years.

In the book, Britney alleges that Timberlake cheated on her with other celebrities. On the 30th of last month (local time), foreign media reported that Timberlake’s family left Los Angeles for Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, after Britney confessed to having an abortion.

Britney also confessed in her book that she debuted as a teenager, but was not treated as an adult even after she became one, which stunted her mental growth and made her peak years difficult. She also said that the conflict with her father, which destroyed her young soul, is still ongoing.

Spears married model Sam Asghari, 12 years her junior, in her third wedding last June, but recently divorced.
