TIME magazine’s Top 100 Photos of 2023 featured the birth of a giant panda at Everland in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

Everland announced on the 30th that the selected photo captures the moment right after the mother panda, Ai Bao, gave birth to twin pandas, Rui Bao and Hui Bao, in the early morning of July 7.

The scene captures the first twin pandas born in South Korea and Ai Bao’s motherly love. It has been a hot topic in the South Korean press and major foreign media worldwide.

Everland reported that TIME magazine described the photo as “Giant panda mother Ai Bao and her newly born female twin pandas, the first to be born in the country, at Everland Amusement and Animal Park in Yongin, South Korea, on July 7.”

Everland plans to publicly display Rui Bao and Hui Bao early next year, once they have grown enough to follow their mother comfortably and adapt to their external environment.
