Actress Han Hyo Joo is set to appear alongside top Japanese actor Oguri Shun in the Netflix series Romantic Anonymous.

On March 13, Han Hyo Joo’s agency, BH Entertainment, confirmed her starring role and began filming with Oguri Shun.

The news of Han Hyo Joo and Oguri Shun pairing up a romantic comedy has garnered attention from fans in both Korea and Japan.

Oguri Shun’s career has been marked by instances of personal life coming under public scrutiny. These include reports of visiting a members-only club with aspiring models before his marriage, high-profile past relationships, and an alleged incident with a former member of the idol group Morning Musume. In 2023, a YouTuber circulated an unconfirmed photo online, speculated to be Oguri Shun, singing karaoke in an exposed state. This incident generated significant media attention.

Despite ongoing concerns about Oguri Shun’s controversial past, interest in Romantic Anonymous has continued to grow.

Romantic Anonymous is a Netflix series based on the French film directed by Jean-Pierre Améris.

This charming romantic comedy tells the tale of a talented chocolatier grappling with social anxiety. Gifted with a knack for crafting exquisite chocolates, our protagonist embarks on a new journey at a quaint chocolate shop. The film is helmed by Tsukikawa Sho, whose work on the Japanese movie I Want to Eat Your Pancreas resonated deeply with Korean audiences.

Han Hyo Joo, who received critical acclaim for her unique performance in the Disney+ series Moving and the Netflix film Believer 2 last year, is expected to captivate Korean and Japanese audiences with her return to romantic comedy. She previously starred in Japanese films such as Miracle: Devil Claus’ Love and Magic and The Sun Does Not Move.

Oguri Shun is an actor with a solid fanbase not only in Japan but also in Korea. He first became known with the 1998 TV drama GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka and has since received much love for his roles in Gokusen, Boys Over Flowers, Crows Zero, and Gintama.

Following the success of the Japanese drama Eye Love You, starring Korean actor Chae Jong Hyeop, a new wave of anticipation surrounds the upcoming collaboration between Korean actress Han Hyo Joo and Japanese actor Oguri Shun in the romantic comedy Romantic Anonymous.
