Hollywood Actress Halle Berry
Misdiagnosed with STD
Turns Out to Be Menopause
Hollywood actress Halle Berry opened up about a medical mishap where she was wrongly diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
According to People magazine, on March 27, Halle Berry opened up about women’s health and menopause at a recent event.
Halle Berry shared, “I have this great sex. I wake up in the morning, go to the bathroom, and guess what? I feel like I have razor blades in my vagina.”
She continued, “The doctor said, ‘This is the worst case of herpes I’ve ever seen.’ I was so shocked that both my partner and I got tested for STDs, and we both tested negative.” She added, “Later, I realized that this was a symptom of perimenopause.”
She said, “The doctor was ignorant and did not prepare me. That’s when I realized I had to use my platform. I have to use all of who I am and start making a change and a difference for other women.”
Halle Berry explained her ego convinced her that she “was going to skip menopause,” arguing that she was “in great shape” and considered herself healthy.
She added, “I managed to get myself off of insulin and manage my diabetes since I was 20 years old. So that makes one think, oh, I can handle menopause. I’m going to skip that whole thing. I was so uneducated about it at that time.”
She emphasized, “We need to make a change for women. Please help us change how our culture looks at women at this stage of our lives.”
Halle Berry, who rose to fame after winning the Miss Teen All-American pageant at 17, has been married to baseball player David Justice in 1993, singer Eric Benet in 2001, and French actor Olivier Martinez in 2013. Unfortunately, all three marriages ended in divorce.
Currently, Halle Berry is dating actor Van Hunt, who is three years old and her junior.
