Taiwanese actress and broadcaster Lolita Lee (aka Chen Fei Li) recently drew much attention by confessing that she almost died from pretending to be a vegetarian.
On April 9, Lee shared on the Taiwanese show “11 PM Hot Place” that she once pretended to be a vegetarian to win the affection of a man she liked.
Lee admitted on the show that she pretended to be a vegetarian to impress someone she liked. However, their food preferences clashed so much that it caused a strain, ultimately leading to them going their separate ways.
Lee was introduced to the man at a friend’s social gathering. “Everything about him, including his appearance, was perfect. He also showed a nice personality after drinking a lot, and he was always a gentleman,” she said, explaining why she was initially attracted to him.
Eager to see the man again, Lee enlisted her friend’s help for a formal introduction. Discovering he was vegetarian, Lee, despite her preferences, embraced a vegan date to impress him.
“He expressed a preference for a vegetarian partner,” Lee explained, “and worried that differing food choices could lead to arguments. That’s why I lied about my preferences – I was interested in him.”
Despite her initial resolve, Lee discovered vegetarianism wasn’t for her. The limited options and lack of variety made it a struggle, further compounded by the scarcity of vegan restaurants at the time.
The turning point came with a planned “home date.” Lee arrived at his place, brimming with anticipation, only to be met with a sight that shattered her enthusiasm. “It’s something I’ll never forget,” she recounted, her voice laced with disbelief. “Just a plate of cherry tomatoes and another of lettuce. No dressing, no sides, nothing.”
Lee told the man, “I have to get up early tomorrow, so I’ll go home first,” and left his house. She shared that she started eating meat again and gradually drifted apart from the man she was seeing with a candid laugh.
Lolita Lee first gained recognition in 2009 on the college quiz program “Are You a College Student?” and later gained popularity with her witty remarks on the variety show “Crazy God Unmatched (aka Crazy Show).”
