Taiwanese star Cheryl Hsieh, who had an affair with a married man, directly confronted the media outlet that reported her scandal.
On April 11th, Hsieh shared a cryptic video on Instagram Stories. Standing outside the office of Mirror Weekly, a media outlet with whom she seemingly has a significant history, she delivered a message of resilience with a bittersweet smile, writing, “The place where I fell, I will rise.”
In June 2019, Mirror Weekly published photos of Hsieh kissing married celebrity Aaron Chen. The revelation caused a public outcry as Chen has been married to Grace Gong since 2011. Hsieh responded with a public apology to Gong at a press conference and on social media, but it wasn’t enough to mend her damaged public image.
Hsieh and Chen had met as cast members of Variety Collection, but only Hsieh had to leave the show when their relationship was exposed.
Later, Gong publicly forgave Chen on her social networking service, saying, “I will shelter you with an umbrella.”
Before the June 2019 incident, Cheryl Hsieh boasted a flourishing career in Taiwan’s entertainment industry. Her talent was recognized in 2018 when she won the prestigious Variety Show Host Award at the 53rd Golden Bell Awards for her work on “Variety Collection.” From 2006 to 2019, she actively participated in various TV programs, raising her public profile. Her marketability was further solidified by landing modeling contracts for four advertisements.
