Hanoks, built in traditional Korean architecture, radiate a serene charm. Various Hanok villages can be discovered across different regions. The tranquil ambiance of a Hanok village nestled amidst nature outside the bustling city is truly captivating. This guide presents several nationwide Hanok villages to enjoy a memorable Hanok stay.

Cheongsong Hanok Folk Village, located in Cheongsong County, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is a reproduction of traditional cultural properties of the Cheongsong area in the Joo Wang Mountain tourist site. It has eight houses: Daegam House, Younggam House, Chambong House, and Saengwon House. At Cheongsong Hanok Folk Village, you can experience a Hanok stay and enjoy the tranquility of life in a Hanok. Each Hanok room has its unique features.

Cheongsong Hanok Folk Village offers four walking courses: the Pine Tree Walking Path, the Observation Deck Walking Path, the Folk Village Walking Path, and the Reservoir Walking Path. It’s an excellent place to walk and enjoy nature, harmonizing with the Hanok leisurely. If you want to heal in a quiet place, we recommend experiencing a Hanok stay at Cheongsong Hanok Folk Village.

In Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, you’ll find Namwon Yechon by Kensington, a Hanok hotel. Renowned masters of Hanok, recognized by UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, came together to construct these Hanoks using eco-friendly materials. Visitors can immerse themselves in various Hanoks, each crafted using traditional methods from the Three Kingdoms period to the Joseon Dynasty.

Namwon Yechon has reproduced the old Hanok but added modern facilities for a comfortable stay. It has sophisticated room interiors and bathrooms.

While staying at Namwon Yechon, you can enjoy various programs such as traditional games, tea ceremonies, and Pansori & Gayageum experiences. You can also take photos in conventional costumes designed by Hanbok designer Hwang Isul. It’s an excellent place for family travelers to spend a prosperous time in a Hanok village.

In Haenam, Jeollanam-do, Museongdong Hanok Village is located. It’s a Hanok village in the Land’s End Village, at the foot of Mt. Duryun. The Hanok village consists of 11 Hanoks, each with its character.

Museongdong Hanok Village was formed as Hanoks have gathered for about 30 years since 1977. It was first designated as a Hanok guesthouse village and then gradually built up as a Hanok village after improving its facilities.

Here, visitors can participate in various events, including traditional experiences and sound experiences. They can also enjoy leisurely stays in Hanoks, each boasting unique appearances and names.

In Gangneung, Gangwon-do, there is Gangneung Ojuk Hanok Village. It has over 30 Hanoks and offers simple but beautiful scenery. With a small pond and pavilion, it’s a great place to enjoy the serene atmosphere of a Hanok. It combines traditional Hanok and modern convenience facilities for a comfortable day.

Gangneung Ojuk Hanok Village, established in 2016, offers visitors a leisurely tour lasting approximately 20 minutes to explore the entire village. Bamboo landscapes are interspersed throughout the village, adding to its charm. Guests can immerse themselves in the tranquil ambiance of a Hanok.

In particular, Gangneung Hanok Village hosts a character education center linked with Ojukheon, the birthplace of Yulgok Yi I, located nearby. Visitors to Gangneung Ojuk Hanok Village can indulge in various traditional cultural experiences.

In Daegu, Ottgol Village proudly showcases a 400-year-old traditional Hanok village. Descendants of the Daegam branch of the Gyeongju Choi family inhabit it. The village comprises approximately 20 traditional houses, allowing visitors to experience Hanok stays and Hanok cafes.

Daegu Metropolitan City has traditionally restored the old road and wall on the west side of Gyeongju Choi’s family home, allowing tourists to experience traditional tourism. Ottgol Village plays the role of a representative tourist spot in Daegu. As you enter the entrance of Ottgol Village, you will see two giant Zelkova trees over 350 years old. Traces of the Joseon Dynasty’s houses and life are still visible.

Ottgol Village exudes a nostalgic atmosphere akin to time-traveling, with its tranquil stone walls and picturesque Hanoks. You can stay at Gyeomheon House, Geumjeon House, Chunjae, and Hwajeon House.
