Japanese singer Airi Suzuki, currently dating soccer player Ao Tanaka, appeared on a TV show and shared that she believes she could marry when she loves someone enough to care for even their most personal needs.
On April 18, Airi Suzuki and Miki Fujimoto confessed their unique views on marriage on the TV Asahi variety program What’s Wrong with Being Wily? (あざとくて何が悪いの).
Fujimoto said, “The person you date and marry is different. If dating is about showing your perfect self, marriage is about how much you can forgive the other person.” She revealed her views on marriage. Suzuki, the show’s host, agreed with Fujimoto’s sentiments.
Suzuki shared her somewhat realistic perspective on marriage, saying, “I decide to marry after considering, ‘Can I take care of this person in the future?’, ‘Can I clean this person?’, ‘Can I handle cleaning up after this person’s body?'”. Upon hearing this, Fujimoto showed her loving side by saying, “If it’s someone I love, I can fully take care of them.”
Fujimoto expressed her love for her husband, comedian Tomoharu Shoji. She shared, “I don’t set goals. I always tell my husband, ‘You’re fulfilling all my dreams.'” She confessed a story about her husband fulfilling her wish to be just the two without children for a year after marriage.
Airi Suzuki debuted as a member of the group Aa! in 2003 and switched to a solo career in 2018. In 2022, she publicly announced her relationship with soccer player Ao Tanaka, who is five years younger. The couple is continuing their relationship with marriage in mind.
Miki Fujimoto, a former member of the girl group Morning Musume, married comedian Tomoharu Shoji in 2009. The couple has three children.
