The Roundup: Punishment continues its impressive box office performance into its second week of release.

South Korea’s leading crime action series, The Roundup, dominated the box office in its opening week. Five days after its release, it attracted 4,253,551 viewers, triggering an explosive response.

The Roundup: Punishment topped the box office in its first week, attracting a cumulative audience of 4,253,551 in just five days.

The movie set new records for the highest opening in 2024, the fastest to reach one million, two million, three million, and four million viewers, the highest daily audience, and the most viewers in its opening week. Each day, The Roundup: Punishment continues to shatter box office records, infusing energy into the final week of April. It’s being loved as a representative series that South Korean audiences adore.

With its record-breaking box office performance from the opening week, The Roundup: Punishment is expected to continue the momentum into the second week with a surge in ticket reservations. The ongoing impressive box office records are mainly due to the positive word-of-mouth from viewers after the release. The Roundup: Punishment is receiving rave reviews from viewers, such as “I laughed a lot in the theater for the first time in a while,” “All the actors were acting fiercely, so I was more immersed,” “Personally, this part was the most fun in the series,” “I watched it when it first released, and it was so fun. I’m now on my third viewing… I’m into ‘The Roundup: Punishment'”. Thanks to such warm reviews from actual viewers, it’s expected to continue its unstoppable box office momentum. Riding on word-of-mouth, The Roundup: Punishment, currently a box office hit, is expected to continue its strong performance during the three-day golden holiday starting May 4, including Labor Day on May 1.

The Roundup: Punishment enjoyed a successful box office sprint thanks to the enthusiastic support of the Korean audience. It is now playing in theaters nationwide.

The break-even point for The Roundup: Punishment was 3.5 million. The lead actor, Ma Dong Seok (aka Don Lee), revealed that he had planned up to the 8th installment of The Roundup series, raising fans’ expectations even higher. The script is reportedly to be in progress.
