NewJeans member Hyein announced her return approximately two months after suspending activities due to an ankle injury. However, her participation will be limited since she has not fully recovered.
On the 20th, NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, announced through the fan communication platform Weverse that “Hyein has been dedicated to treatment and recovery since a minor fracture was found on the top of her foot in April,” adding, “A recent examination confirmed that the fracture is healing, and she has been recommended to increase her movement over the next month gradually.”
Hyein will participate in NewJeans’ solo fan meeting, NewJeans Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome, held on the 26th and 27th in Japan, based on medical advice and after sufficient discussions with her agency.
Along with the news of Hyein’s return, the agency explained, “As a sufficient rehabilitation period is necessary, ADOR is currently adjusting the contents of Hyein’s participation section to ensure meetings with fans without straining her injured area.” They added, “We appreciate your understanding that she will participate in some performances in a limited capacity.”
They also mentioned, “For the same reason, we ask for your understanding that it will be difficult for Hyein to participate in official activities in Japan, including music broadcasts and performances for Supernatural. However, based on Hyein’s condition and the medical advice, she plans to participate flexibly in schedules other than music broadcasts and performances as much as possible.”
The agency further stated that they are striving to present a complete stage with all five members of NewJeans, including Hyein, on the scheduled music broadcasts after that.
They expressed deep appreciation for the fans’ concern regarding Hyein’s health. They announced that Hyein plans to resume her official activities once she receives medical confirmation that she has fully recovered. They sincerely requested continued support and encouragement from the fans.
Hyein previously suspended her activities in April due to a minor fracture. At that time, ADOR announced that Hyein experienced pain on the top of her foot during practice. She then underwent a detailed hospital examination, which revealed a minor fracture. As a result, she could not participate in the activities for “How Sweet,” which was released on May 24th.
Recently, a challenge video with Hyein and the other members was released, raising the possibility of the entire group returning to activities. While it’s only partial, all members have returned to the stage.
Hyein departed with the other members this morning for Tokyo, Japan. NewJeans is scheduled to make their official debut in Japan on the 21st.
NewJeans will officially release their Japanese debut single, “Supernatural,” through music streaming platforms at 1 p.m. on the 21st. On the same day, they are scheduled to debut the title track performance for the first time on Fuji TV’s morning broadcast, Mezamashi TV.
