Chinese actress Angelababy recently faced humiliation in an attempt to resume her career after being blurred out in the latest episode of the Chinese variety show “Keep Running.”
Despite resuming some offline activities and officially joining the cast for a new drama series, Angelababy allegedly is subjected to a performance ban from Chinese authorities.
Angelababy halted her activities in China after attending BLACKPINK Lisa’s performance at the Crazy Horse in Paris in 2023. Since then, Angelababy’s appearances in other variety shows have also been deleted.
Although Crazy Horse is among Paris’s top three cabaret shows, its explicit content has not spared it from controversy. The China Performance Industry Association prohibits promoting lewd and vulgar performances, and Crazy Horse is notorious for their audacious and bold acts. By attending Lisa’s show, Angelababy was forced to resign from all her appearances on variety shows and faced backlash for her alleged endorsement of X-rated performances.
Though Angelababy’s entertainment activities in China were halted, she showed her active involvement in the fashion industry with a recent picture of herself with Hermés executive Michael Coste. The photo spread quickly on Chinese social media and rose to the top of the search results in real time.
