Despite BLACKPINK member Jennie’s acknowledgment of indoor smoking allegations, fellow group member Jisoo’s popularity is soaring.
As of July 9, Jisoo’s social media follower count surpassed 79 million. Since launching her account in 2018, Jisoo has actively engaged with fans by posting photos and videos, including luxury photo shoots, selfies, and daily outfits.
According to recent findings, Jisoo, who also works as an actress, has the highest number of social media followers among Korean actresses.
Among female artists, Lisa ranks first, Jennie second, Jisoo third, and Rosé fourth, proving BLACKPINK’s unrivaled status.
Jisoo hinted at her acting career in the past with special appearances in KBS 2TV’s Producer and tvN’s Arthdal Chronicles. She then successfully debuted her first leading role in JTBC’s Snowdrop in 2021, playing the role of Eun Young Ro.
She recently announced her participation in Coupang Play’s Influenza and will debut on the silver screen next year through the film Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is generating buzz before its release with its star-studded cast alongside Jisoo, including Lee Min Ho, Nana, and Ahn Hyo Seop.
BLACKPINK renewed its group activity contract with YG Entertainment for 2023 but did not proceed with contracts for individual activities. Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie established their own agencies for solo activities, while Rosé joined Teddy’s The Black Label.
Although there have been rumors of animosity between the members, they continued to show off their close friendship. Rosé traveled to the U.S. to support the release of Lisa’s solo album Rockstar and collaborated with Lisa on a challenge video.
