The film Edge of Tomorrow may return with a sequel after a decade.
On July 8, Variety reported that Tom Cruise is still interested in producing a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow even after ten years.
Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman shared in a recent interview with Empire to promote his new movie, The Instigators, that he is in discussions with Cruise about producing a sequel.
When asked about the possibility of Edge of Tomorrow 2, he positively responded, “Tom Cruise and I continue to talk about producing a sequel.”
“I recently watched the film with Tom Cruise for the first time in ten years. I thought it was a good movie,” he added.
Director Liman and lead actors Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt have consistently expressed interest in producing a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow for ten years since its release.
In 2019, Warner Brothers announced that Edge of Tomorrow 2 was officially under development, but no further news followed. However, curiosity arose among fans about whether Tom Cruise’s contract with Warner Brothers for movie production was related to Edge of Tomorrow 2.
Released in 2014, Edge of Tomorrow is based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel All You Need Is Kill. It was well-received and even became one of Tom Cruise’s career highlights.
