Jisoo achieved a remarkable milestone despite her fellow BLACKPINK members Jennie and Lisa being embroiled in controversy.

Jisoo’s debut single album, ME, surpassed 1 billion streams on global music platforms.

Proving her successful solo debut, the title track “FLOWER” and the album track “ALL EYES ON ME” recorded 952 million streams and 48 million streams, respectively.

With this milestone, ME has become the first and most-streamed album by a South Korean female solo artist on global music platforms.

Since her solo debut last March, Jisoo’s ME has sold 1,172,351 copies in just a week, becoming the first album by a K-pop female solo artist to achieve “million-seller” status.

“FLOWER” set a record as the fastest K-pop music video released in 2023 to reach 500 million views, making headlines as the quickest among South Korean female solo artists to hit that mark. As of July 19, the music video has surpassed 520 million views and continues to receive immense love from fans.

Jisoo established her label BLISSOO with her older brother as she began to pursue acting more seriously.

She made a special cameo in the movie Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman” and recently finished production of her first feature film, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. She recently confirmed being part of the cast of Coupang Play’s original series Influenza, marking her successful start as an actress.

Jennie and Lisa, who left YG Entertainment to establish their labels, are under public scrutiny. Jennie was at the center of a controversial debate after a vlog on her channel showed her smoking a vape indoors. Fans got heated over the footage because it looked like she blew smoke directly at the staff in front of her, accusing her of abusing her position of power.

Jennie’s team apologized to the public, “We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie’s actions in the vlog released July 2. Jennie also reflects on her smoking indoors and the impact it had on other staff members, and she has reached out directly to apologize to the staff present at that time.”

Lisa is also facing allegations of plagiarism regarding her “ROCKSTAR” music video for her recently released album.

British photographer and director Gabriel Moses claimed that the “ROCKSTAR” music video plagiarized Travis Scott’s music video for “FE! N” from his fourth studio album UTOPIA.

Moses has reportedly requested Lisa’s team to clarify their position by the end of this month, but Lisa has yet to release any official statement.

YG Entertainment announced last December that they had signed an extension for BLACKPINK’s group activities but agreed not to pursue separate additional contracts for individual activities.
