Rapper Cheat Key’s Death Hoax and Other K-Hip Hop Scandals: A Look at the Most Shocking Moments

TV Report Views

Rapper Cheat Key recently faced severe backlash for pretending to be dead but is showing no sign of remorse. Rappers from K-hip hop have continued their troubling behavior, which has angered many and raised eyebrows. Here is a list of the most shocking incidents that infuriated many.

On Wednesday, allegations surfaced that Cheat Key fell to his death while filming a video on the rooftop of a mixed-use building in Sangbong-dong, Seoul. His presumed girlfriend, identified as A, mourned him, saying, “I believe he will live freely in the world he dreamed of. I will remember him for the rest of my life.”

After reports indicated there had not been any incidents of that type close to Sangbong-dong, the incident was found to be untrue.

“Nice to see you,” Cheat Key posted, proving he was alive. Later, during a live broadcast, he stated, “I’m not trying to stir up controversy. I wanted to resurrect with my new album, but I was too clever that I deceived my entire family. I made a pact with God for my resurrection,” displaying a lack of remorse. He even shockingly claimed, “I want to eat human flesh.”

Upon learning that his death was a hoax, the public gave him the cold shoulder and criticized him, with comments stating not to joke about life and death and that he was acting pathetic.

Many other K-hip hop rappers have also drawn frowns from the public.

In January, after an anonymous rapper confessed to using drugs, rapper New Champ shared a misleading comment that he turned himself in after releasing a new song that said he used drugs. “It felt good,” he wrote.

“I didn’t realize a joke would be so controversial,” New Champ expressed when his comment drew negative backlash. “I feel so foolish and regretful. I do not use drugs,” he insisted and apologized for the misunderstanding. “I’m sorry that my joke about the person who confessed to drug use has been reported and spread on various websites,” he wrote.

In July 2017, rapper Jung Sang Soo caused a disturbance while intoxicated and was subdued by police using a taser. He continued to stir up controversy with his drunk driving incidents and public disturbances; he was also charged with assault.

In 2021, he sparked controversy by answering that he had smoked marijuana during a live broadcast but backtracked his answer by saying it was a cigar instead. “I was mistaken. It wasn’t marijuana; it was a cigar. I confused a cigar with marijuana,” he clarified.

Rapper Black Nut was criticized for making sexual jokes about rapper Cardi B in his songs “Too Real” and “Indigo Child” and continued to make sexually derogatory remarks about Cardi B during his performances.

After being sued, Black Nut claimed that dissing is part of the hip-hop genre. However, the court found no reasonable justification for such expressions being acceptable solely because they were hip-hop and sentenced him to a suspended prison term.
