The iconic K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation is expected to make a highly anticipated comeback in 2027.
Sooyoung of Girls’ Generation recently appeared on the web variety show DNE comment Hey, Come here and hinted at a full group reunion and tour. Her comments have sparked significant excitement and speculation among fans.
The hose Super Junior’s Donghae mused, “I wonder if Girls’ Generation could release an album whenever they come together.” Sooyoung confirmed that discussions among the members about their next comeback have been ongoing. When asked if fans could expect a new album in time for the group’s 20th anniversary, she responded, “Yes.” She pointed out that Girls’ Generation’s 20th anniversary will be in 2027, adding, “We have three years left.”
Sooyoung also expressed a strong desire to go on tour. She noted that while they have attempted tours in the past, aligning everyone’s schedules proved challenging, which she found disappointing.
Fans have shown their enthusiasm online with comments like, “I’m really looking forward to Girls’ Generation’s 20th anniversary. It’s already so exciting,” and “I really hope they do at least one concert.”
Girls’ Generation debuted in 2007 under SM Entertainment with its first single, “Into the New World.” Over the years, they have earned widespread acclaim with numerous hits, including “Gee,” “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie),” “The Boys,” and “I Got a Boy.”
Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun did not renew their contracts with SM Entertainment after their 10-year terms ended in 2017. Sunny also departed from the company last year.
Despite being with different management companies, Girls’ Generation celebrated its 15th debut anniversary in 2022 with the release of its 7th studio album, FOREVER1. The group reunited for music show promotions and appeared on the JTBC reality show Soshi Tam Tam, highlighting its enduring chemistry and friendship. As speculation grows, fans are eagerly awaiting the group’s full comeback.
