Kim Chae Won, the winner of Miss Korea 2024, is a Yonsei University student aspiring to become a film director. The finals of the 68th Miss Korea pageant took place on the 24th at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam, Seoul, hosted by announcer Jo Woo Jong and Choi Mina Sue, the winner of Miss Korea 2022.
After an intensive journey that included regional preliminaries and two rigorous training camps, Kim Chae Won emerged victorious from a pool of 24 talented finalists. Reflecting on her experience, she said, “Preparing for the Miss Korea pageant taught me so much. As an aspiring film director, I aim to create content that showcases the beauty and uniqueness of Korea to the world.”
Kim revealed her motivation for entering the pageant: “If a film director conveys a message through their medium, then Miss Korea embodies that message directly.”
When asked by the MC, “If there were no erasers in the world, how would you cover up mistakes?” Kim provided an impressive response: “If I didn’t erase it, I would turn the page and rewrite it. By doing so, I can avoid making the same mistake again.”
With a passion for filmmaking, Kim Chae Won looks up to directors Damien Chazelle and Bong Joon Ho. She expresses her desire to “evoke emotions like Chazelle and provide social critique through my work, just like Bong.”
In her closing remarks, she declared, “I’m excited to take on various challenges and embrace new opportunities in the future. I aspire to grow into a female leader who can proudly represent South Korea, and I hope you’ll continue to support me on this journey!”
The night also honored other remarkable contestants, with Park Hee Sun from Seoul-Gyeonggi-Incheon receiving the title of Miss Korea Goodness (first place) and Yoon Ha Young from Daejeon-Sejong-Chungcheong being crowned Miss Korea Beauty (second place).
