The rising star Lee Ha Eum, known as the younger sister of TWICE member Jihyo, has landed the lead role in her debut project.
Starhouse Entertainment announced yesterday that Lee Ha Eum is officially launching her acting career with the short-form drama Request to Resign.
The statement added, “With the rapid growth of the short-form drama market driven by new content trends, we are confident that Lee Ha Eum will showcase her unique charm and make a mark in this genre. We encourage you to continue supporting her as she expands her activities across various platforms.”
Request to Resign focuses on the fictional company Uyeon Trading and explores the conflicts and romances of three individuals, each pursuing their own goals. A popular webtoon of the same name inspires it.
In the drama, Lee Ha Eum portrays Oh Geum Hee, the team leader of the overseas trading department at Uyeon Trading. Geum Hee is a diligent character, perhaps even a workaholic, who develops special chemistry with various characters, including the company president, Kang Tae Ri, with whom she shares a long-standing friendship. Throughout the series, she nurtures her dreams and love, captivating the audience’s hearts.
Lee Ha Eum shared her thoughts on landing this significant role: “I felt a lot of pressure, but I was equally excited.”
She expressed gratitude for the excellent director, fellow actors, and staff who supported her, stating, “Despite the many challenges, I enjoyed the filming process thanks to everyone’s help. Portraying Geum Hee has been an invaluable experience, and I hope viewers enjoy it as much as I enjoyed preparing for it.”
Born in 2002, Lee Ha Eum garnered attention for her doll-like visuals even before her debut. Last year, she signed an exclusive contract with Starhouse Entertainment, marking the start of her acting career.
Lee Ha Eum’s leading drama, Request to Resign, was released on the global short-form drama platform VIGLOO yesterday. Meanwhile, her older sister, TWICE’s Jihyo, will hold a fan meeting titled HOME 9ROUND at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on October 20th.
