Tragic Loss: ‘The Glory’ Star Park Ji Ah Passes Away at 52

Actress Park Ji Ah, celebrated for her role in the Netflix original drama The Glory, has passed away at the age of 52 following a battle with a cerebral infarction.

Park Ji Ah’s agency, Billions, announced on September 30, “It is with a heavy heart that we share this devastating news. Park Ji Ah passed away due to a cerebral infarction.”

The agency said they will never forget Park Ji Ah’s passion for acting, stating, “Once again, we extend our deepest condolences on her passing and sincerely wish for her peaceful rest.”

With 21 years of experience, Park Ji Ah began her career at the theater company Chaimu and made her film debut in 2002 with The Coast Guard. She left a lasting impression as a ghost in the film Epitaph. Park later showcased her talent in popular dramas such as Doctors, The Good Wife, Judge vs. Judge, The Guest, Bloody Heart

, and Cleaning Up, as well as films like Masquerade, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Rampant, and The Closet.

In 2022, she gained widespread recognition for her powerful performance as Jeong Mi Hee, the mother of Moon Dong Eun (played by Song Hye Kyo), in the Netflix original series The Glory.

In the series, Jeong Mi Hee is portrayed as a harsh mother who neglects her daughter, Moon Dong Eun. She suffers from school bullying and goes into hiding after receiving a settlement from the school. Upon her return, she creates chaos for her daughter and ultimately ends up in a mental hospital, leaving a strong impression. 

Meanwhile, the late actress’s funeral is set to take place at a designated funeral home in Seoul, with the funeral procession scheduled for October 2.
