Today marks the fifth anniversary of the tragic passing of Sulli (real name Choi Jin Ri), a former member of the K-pop group f(x) and actress. Sulli’s untimely death on October 14, 2019, at the age of 25, left fans and the entertainment industry in shock. She was found at her home just a day after actively engaging with her schedule and fans, deepening the sorrow of those who admired her. Many were particularly heartbroken knowing that Sulli had long struggled with online harassment, often voicing a desire for love and kindness. Her plea, “Please treat me kindly,” still resonates deeply with fans who remember her gentle smile.

Sulli began her entertainment career in 2005, portraying the young Princess Seonhwa in the drama Ballad of Seodong. She gained widespread fame in 2009 as a member of f(x), where she helped release a series of hit songs, including “La Cha Ta,” “Hot Summer,” “Rum Pum Pum Pum,” and “Electric Shock.”

After leaving the group in 2015, Sulli transitioned to acting, appearing in various projects such as the drama To the Beautiful You and films like The Pirates: Bandits to the Sea, Fashion King, and Real.

Sulli’s posthumous work is the documentary film Dear Jinri, which is based on her interviews and premiered at the 28th Busan International Film Festival. Dear Jinrii presents a series of interviews that delve into Sulli’s experiences as an actress and artist, sharing the everyday struggles and reflections of 25-year-old Choi Jin Ri during the period.
