Actor Song Kang Ho is set to captivate audiences once again, this time as a director. Known for his standout performances in blockbuster films like Parasite, A Taxi Driver, The Attorney, and The Host, he boasts an impressive record, having starred in four films that each surpassed 10 million admissions. He also made history by winning the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for Broker, marking a significant milestone in Korean cinema. With his upcoming film One Win, Song Kang Ho is expected to showcase his charming and lighthearted appeal, winning over audiences once more.

One Win follows the journey of a professional women’s volleyball team that has yet to secure a victory. The team features a coach with a history of losses, an owner who has little faith in their chances, and players who are uncertain about how to achieve success. Together, they embark on a quest to capture that elusive first win.

In One Win, Song Kang Ho portrays Kim Woo Jin, a former volleyball player who has faced a series of setbacks in his coaching career, achieving a win rate of under 10%. His life has been filled with challenges, including dismissal, bankruptcy, and divorce. When his struggling youth volleyball academy is on the brink of closing, he seizes the opportunity to lead the Pink Storm, a professional women’s volleyball team teetering on the edge of disbandment. Team owner Kang Jeong Won (played by Park Jeong Min) assures him that all they need is just one win throughout the season.

Song Kang Ho expressed his affection for the character of Kim Woo Jin, stating, “He was once a promising player, but life didn’t go well for him. There’s something relatable about his experiences of failure and shortcomings that resonates with all of us, making him feel familiar and endearing.”

In One Win, he balances humor and realism, highlighting each player’s unique personalities and strengths while showcasing their struggles for the team’s first victory. Song Kang Ho described the film as “both a sports movie and a coming-of-age story.” The journey of Kim Woo Jin, a volleyball enthusiast who cannot leave the sport behind numerous failures, raises curiosity among prospective audiences about how his transformation will unfold as he interacts with the players of Pink Storm.

As anticipation builds, audiences can look forward to witnessing the exceptional talent of Korea’s top actor, Song Kang Ho, as he steps into the role of a volleyball coach with a track record of failures. One Win is set to be released in theaters this December.
