NCT member Jaehyun is set to enlist in the military, becoming the second member of the popular boy group to do so, following leader Taeyong. On Monday, Jaehyun entered the Army Training Center, where he will undergo five weeks of basic military training.
Jaehyun has successfully applied to serve as a military musician. After completing his basic training, he will continue his service in this specialized role, with an expected discharge date of May 3, 2026.
Debuting in 2016, Jaehyun has been actively involved in various projects. He is a member of NCT, NCT 127, NCT U, and NCT Dojaejung. In addition to group activities, he has expanded his career as a solo artist and actor, showcasing a diverse artistic range.
In August, Jaehyun launched his solo career by releasing his first studio album, J. He had initially planned a fan signing event on August 29 to celebrate the album. Still, it was postponed due to the recent departure of former group member Taeil, who left amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
Jaehyun has faced challenges throughout his career. In 2021, he was set to showcase his acting skills in Dear.M, but the South Korean airing was indefinitely delayed due to bullying allegations against lead actress Park Hye Su. Jaehyun was also confirmed to star in a drama remake of the film Bungee Jumping of Their Own, but production was ultimately halted over concerns from the original writer.
In April 2024, anticipation was high for the drama I Believe You, in which Jaehyun plays the lead. However, filming was suspended just three months later in June due to investment issues, with reports indicating that a new funding contract has yet to be secured.
Despite these setbacks, Jaehyun’s dedication to his craft has not gone unnoticed by fans. As he temporarily steps away from the entertainment industry to fulfill his mandatory obligations, an outpouring of support has emerged from his fanbase.
