In the captivating final episode of tvN’s Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, Kim Tae Ri’s portrayal of Jeongnyeon reached new heights as she transformed into the true prince of the National Opera Company, delivering a powerful performance that left viewers in awe.

On Sunday, the series finale saw Jeongnyeon (played by Kim Tae Ri) embody her character, Asadal, as she took on the role of the prince of Maeran in a dramatic on-stage performance that garnered widespread acclaim. Her talent and dedication earned her the admiration of everyone around her, including the audience, marking a major turning point in the show.

As the drama unfolded, Dae Il (played by Ryu Seung Soo) moved to take control of the National Opera Company’s building, prompting a confrontation between Yeong Seo (played by Shin Ye Eun) and Do Aeng (played by Lee Se Young). Yeong Seo asked, “Is this because of the debt from the joint performance?” Do Aeng revealed the company’s mounting financial struggles, which made securing investors increasingly tricky. Despite the challenges, she reassured Yeong Seo, saying, “The director is working tirelessly. Let’s keep this between us. She’ll find a way to ensure the performance happens, no matter what.”

Despite the looming pressure, Yeong Seo took matters into her own hands. With help from Ki Joo (played by Jang Hae Jin), she managed to raise a significant sum of money and offered it to So Bok (played by Ra Mi Ran). Though So Bok hesitated, Yeong Seo declared, “I’ll swallow my pride for the National Opera Company. What matters most is putting on this show, no matter what it takes.” Touched by her determination, So Bok agreed, promising, “I promise you, we will make sure this performance happens, come hell or high water.”

Under So Bok’s leadership, the National Opera Company is preparing for its upcoming performance of The Legend of the Twin Towers. Jeongnyeon is focusing intently on her role as Asadal. She trusts So Bok to guide the company through the financial and emotional hurdles it faces.

Jeongnyeon shared a heartfelt moment, reflecting on her journey: “They say I’m from a starry land. The first time I saw a National Opera performance, my heart raced so much I couldn’t sleep. My mother told me, Forget it. Those people are from a starry land. And she was right. To the women of Mokpo, a stage like that must seem like something from another world. In a world where it’s tough just to survive, if someone says they’re chasing after a starry land, people might think they’re crazy. But to me, that starry land is what keeps me going. It’s the strength that sustains me.”

As the open audition for the role of Asadal played out, Yeong Seo confidently declared, “Director, there’s no need to announce it. Everyone already knows Jeongnyeon is our new prince.” She then took Jeongnyeon’s hand and said, “Congratulations, Jeongnyeon. You’re our new prince.” Overcome with emotion, Jeongnyeon embraced Yeong Seo tightly, grateful for the support and trust.

In the series finale, Jeongnyeon’s performance as Asadal was mesmerizing. She was hailed as a once-in-a-century genius for her exceptional talent, leaving the audience in awe. Even Yong Rye (Moon So Ri), who had previously opposed Jeongnyeon’s voice, was moved to tears by the emotional power of her performance.

With her transformation into a true prince, Jeongnyeon took the reins of the National Opera Company, leading them with the strength and wisdom of a true leader. As the play reached its emotional conclusion, Jeongnyeon’s journey brought a fitting end to Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born‘s 14-episode run, cementing her place as the show’s shining star.
