TV Report Views
Actor Jung Woo Sung’s recent confirmation of fatherhood with model Moon Ga Bi has brought renewed attention to his views on parenting, which he first shared over a decade ago. In a 2012 appearance on the popular South Korean variety show Golden Fishery – Knee Drop Guru, Jung Woo Sung spoke openly about his aspirations for fatherhood.
Jung Woo Sung explained at the time, “I didn’t have a strong connection with my father. I want to be a father who can also be a friend to my children. I don’t want to define my son only as my son—I want to relate to him as a man, friend, and even peer at times.” He continued, “I don’t want to be confined by the label of father. I hope my son feels the same way. I want us to be equals.” Reflecting on his upbringing, Jung Woo Sung shared, “I didn’t have that kind of relationship with my parents. In a way, they missed the chance to receive affection from me as a child.” He said, “If I have a son, I want to be a father who is more like a friend. If it’s a daughter, I imagine I’ll be the overprotective dad who loves her too much.”
In a separate interview from 10 years ago, Jung Woo Sung also expressed a desire to have at least two children. “My dream is to be a good father—someone who is also a friend to my kids. I want to be the kind of husband who leads the family with warmth and love,” he said.
Recently, model Moon Ga Bi shared the news of her childbirth, revealing, “As a mother, I found the courage to embrace a more ordinary kind of happiness.” Following her announcement, Jung Woo Sung’s agency confirmed on Sunday, “The child Moon Ga Bi revealed is indeed Jung Woo Sung’s biological son.”
According to Ten Asia, Moon Ga Bi and Jung Woo Sung had met several times but were not romantically involved. After her pregnancy, Moon Ga Bi reportedly expressed a desire to marry. However, sources say that while Jung Woo Sung’s camp provided financial support for her pregnancy and child-rearing expenses, he firmly declined the prospect of marriage, stating that “marriage is not an option.”
