Former AOA member and broadcaster Kwon Mina has shut down rumors suggesting she is planning to transition into a career as a BJ (broadcast jockey).

On Sunday, Kwon Mina took to her social media to address the speculation, posting a short but direct message: “I’m not becoming a BJ.” She continued, “I’m not sure what will happen with YouTube in the future, but every time an article comes out about me becoming a BJ, my name is mentioned. To be clear, I’m not involved in any BJ activities. Stay safe and take care of your health in this cold weather.” She reiterated her position, further dismissing the rumors.

This clarification follows growing speculation around her potential move into the BJ scene after her announcement in August that she would be resuming her YouTube and internet broadcasting activities.

Kwon Mina debuted in 2012 as a lead rapper and sub-vocalist for the K-pop group AOA. However, she left the group in 2019 after experiencing significant personal and professional challenges.

After her departure, Kwon Mina publicly accused her former AOA bandmate, Shin Jimin, of bullying, leading to a highly publicized dispute. This controversy’s fallout left Kwon Mina and Shin Jimin emotionally scarred. Kwon Mina was also embroiled in several other controversies, including an indoor smoking incident and allegations of mistreatment toward a nurse.

Despite Shin Jimin’s departure from AOA, Kwon Mina continued to speak out. In October, she shared a photo with former group member Choa, and in the post, she revealed, “I’ve been hit before and struggled immensely over the past decade. I’ve received a lot of criticism. After I left the group, I couldn’t take it anymore. I felt an overwhelming urge to vent my frustration.”

Acknowledging that she may have gone too far, Kwon Mina admitted, “It was short-sighted, and I went overboard.” She concluded by stating, “I won’t discuss Jimin anymore. I’m going to focus on my future and move forward.”
