Cignature, the popular K-pop girl group, has officially disbanded, according to its agency, C9 Entertainment.
The agency confirmed the news on Tuesday through a statement posted on the group’s official fan cafe.
In the statement, C9 Entertainment explained, “Through mutual discussions with the members, we have determined that disbanding the group is the best decision.” They continued, “As a result, the exclusive contracts of all seven members have been terminated, regardless of any remaining contract duration. The group’s activities officially ended as of Saturday.”
Despite facing numerous challenges, the agency expressed its deep gratitude to the members for their dedication and hard work throughout their careers. “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the members, who have given their all as part of Cignature,” the statement read. We also sincerely apologize to the fans for this sudden announcement. We kindly ask for your continued support as the members begin new chapters in various fields.”
Cignature debuted in 2020 as a six-member girl group and quickly made its mark in the K-pop scene. During its career, the group released five mini-albums and two singles. As recently as June 2024, the group showed no signs of slowing down, with the release of its fifth mini-album, Sweetie but Saltie, and a high-energy performance at the Waterbomb festival. However, just four years after its debut, its journey ended unexpectedly.
