Singer Park Jin Young, the founder of JYP Entertainment and a renowned producer, is again making headlines with his latest act of generosity. The entertainment powerhouse recently donated an impressive 1 billion won (approximately $699,000) from his personal fortune to fund medical treatments for underprivileged children and teens. Since 2022, Park has committed to donating 1 billion won annually for three years, totaling an extraordinary 3 billion won (around $2.09 million). His ongoing dedication to philanthropy is setting a new benchmark for celebrity giving.
The funds raised through Park Jin Young’s personal donation have been allocated to five major hospitals across South Korea. These include Yonsei University Health System, Gangneung Asan Hospital, Kyungpook National University, Chilgok Hospital, Busan Paik Hospital, and Jeju National University Hospital. Each hospital will receive 200 million won (approximately $139,800) to support treating and rehabilitating children and adolescents with severe, rare, and incurable diseases.
At a recent donation ceremony held at JYP’s headquarters, Park Jin Young shared the personal motivation behind his generous contributions. “As a father of two young daughters, I’ve always had a soft spot for children,” he explained. “Whenever my girls get sick, it breaks my heart. I can’t help but think of parents who are not only dealing with their child’s illness but also struggling financially. That inspired me to contribute to covering medical expenses for these kids. My hope is that this donation will ensure these children get the care they need, and I’m committed to working even harder so I can give back even more in the future.”
This isn’t the first time Park Jin Young has shown his commitment to helping children. In 2022, he made another significant contribution, donating 1 billion won (approximately $699,000) to support children battling severe illnesses. He split the donation between Samsung Medical Center and World Vision, each receiving 500 million won (around $345,600). These funds were used to support surgeries, transplants, and treatments for rare congenital diseases, benefiting children in both South Korea and abroad.
In 2023, Park Jin Young continued his philanthropic efforts by donating another 1 billion won to five major hospitals in South Korea, including Samsung Medical Center, Seoul Asan Hospital, Chungnam National University Hospital, Chonnam National University Hospital, and Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital. Each institution received 200 million won (about $139,900) to help children fight illness, focusing on offering hope and helping them keep their dreams alive, even in the face of challenging health battles.
Through these donations, Park Jin Young has contributed 3 billion won (around $2.09 million) from 2022 to 2024, touching the lives of 276 children across South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. His continued dedication to supporting children in need has made a lasting impact on countless families, helping provide both hope and tangible assistance.
Park Jin Young’s philanthropic efforts extend beyond personal donations to include multiple initiatives to give back to society and address broader social issues. One is the EDM Treatment Support Program, which covers medical expenses for children suffering from rare and incurable diseases. Another initiative, the EDM Wish Fulfillment Project, provides emotional support to these children, helping lift their spirits and give them hope for the future. His Love Earth environmental project also focuses on creating a healthier and more sustainable planet for future generations.
The scale of these initiatives’ impact is truly remarkable. JYP Entertainment has donated 2.85 billion won (approximately $1.99 million) this year alone, supporting 1,706 children. Since 2019, JYP’s cumulative donations have reached 6.34 billion won (around $4.43 million), benefiting 3,428 children in South Korea and abroad.
