NewJeans’ hit single “Ditto” has officially surpassed 700 million streams on Spotify, confirming the K-pop group’s status as a global superstar.
Spotify reported on Friday that as of Wednesday, “Ditto,” from the group’s single album OMG, had racked up 700,011,492 streams. This achievement makes “Ditto” NewJeans’ second track to hit the 700-million milestone, following the title track “OMG” from the same album.
“Ditto,” which was released as a pre-release track on December 19, 2022, is known for its cozy, feel-good melody and the group’s warm vocals. The song quickly became a fan favorite, propelling NewJeans onto the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 just six months after its debut. In South Korea, “Ditto” made history by topping Melon’s daily chart for 99 consecutive days, eventually finishing the year at #1 on Melon’s 2023 Year-End Chart.
Paste magazine recognized “Ditto” as one of the Best Songs of the 2020s, praising the track for showcasing NewJeans’ pioneering sound and explosive stardom. According to the publication, “Ditto” perfectly captures the group’s unique position in the genre they are shaping.
As “Ditto” approaches its second anniversary, the song remains a fixture in the upper ranks of major music charts. NewJeans’ remarkable ability to maintain consistent popularity with both new releases and older tracks has been a defining feature of its success. This year, this helped the group secure the fifth spot on Spotify’s 2024 year-end chart for most-streamed K-pop artists, making it the highest-ranking K-pop girl group on the list.
To date, NewJeans has reached an impressive 14 songs with over 100 million streams on Spotify. Among its hits, both “OMG” and “Ditto” have surpassed 700 million streams, while “Super Shy” and “Hype Boy” have topped 600 million. “Attention” has exceeded 400 million, and both “New Jeans” and “ETA” have crossed the 300-million mark.
Other fan favorites, including “Cookie,” “Hurt,” and “Cool With You,” each have more than 200 million streams, while “ASAP,” “Get Up,” “How Sweet,” and “Supernatural” have all crossed the 100-million mark. As a result, the total cumulative streams for all of NewJeans’ tracks on Spotify now surpass 5.5 billion.
NewJeans will perform at the 2024 Music Bank Global Festival in Japan on December 14. On December 16, it will appear on TBS’s CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special.
In a press conference on November 28, NewJeans also revealed that, as of November 29, they had officially terminated their exclusive contract with ADOR. The group announced that it would continue its activities independently, free from both ADOR and HYBE. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract.
