FNC Entertainment recently hosted its FNC Kingdom concert in Japan, while FTISLAND’s Choi Min Hwan, who announced a hiatus earlier this year, continues his break from public activities.
The 2024 FNC KINGDOM—SING SING SING concert, held over the weekend, was a major hit with local fans. The two-day event took place at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Chiba, Japan, and FNC’s roster of artists delivered dynamic performances to an enthusiastic audience.
FTISLAND and CNBLUE, two of K-pop’s most influential bands, helped kick off and close the concert, reaffirming their status as pioneers of the Korean Wave. FTISLAND took the stage with a powerful opening, performing its hit “PRAY. ” This was followed by a six-song set that included fan favorites like “Stay What You Are” and “Orange Days.” CNBLUE followed with a polished and energetic set, performing seven tracks, including “A Sleepless Night” and “In My Head.”
In a special collaboration, FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Gi and CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa teamed up for a duet performance of “Sudden Shower,” the theme song from the Korean drama Lovely Runner. The duo then shared the stage for FTISLAND’s “Love Love Love” and Jung Yong Hwa’s solo hit “One Fine Day.”
Actor Jung Hae In also surprised the audience at FNC Kingdom with a memorable performance. However, FTISLAND’s Choi Min Hwan was notably absent from the event.
Choi Min Hwan’s absence follows a series of allegations made by his ex-wife, Yul Hee, in October. She accused him of frequenting adult entertainment venues and alleged incidents of inappropriate behavior, including claims that he “stuffed money into my chest” and “touched sensitive areas in front of family members.”
Amid the controversy, Choi Min Hwan paused his media activities and halted FTISLAND’s promotions. However, last month, the Gangnam Police in Seoul concluded their investigation, stating that there was insufficient evidence to support the claims. As a result, the case was not forwarded to the prosecution.
After the decision, Choi Min Hwan stated regret. “I sincerely apologize for causing distress and hardship. I deeply regret and genuinely reflect on my actions,” he said. Despite speculation about his possible return to the public eye, sources confirm that Choi Min Hwan remains on his self-imposed hiatus, focusing on personal reflection.
