BTOB’s Lee Min Hyuk recently shared how a herniated disc injury led to his dedication to fitness.

On Thursday, the popular YouTube channel Gym Jong Kook released a new video titled “Next Year’s Waterbomb Winter Training… (Feat. Min Hyuk, Ma Seon Ho, Choi Han Jin).”

In the video, Min Hyuk appeared, and host Kim Jong Kook, well-known for his fitness journey, asked him about his transformation. “I knew you liked working out, but it seems like you’ve stepped up your game lately,” Kim Jong Kook said. What made you decide to take it to the next level?”

Min Hyuk explained that his fitness journey started after a severe herniated disc injury. I used to be really athletic, but when I could barely move due to the pain, I had to undergo rehabilitation for about a year,” he shared. Afterward, the doctors actually recommended that I start weight training to rebuild my strength.”

He continued, “At first, I just didn’t want to feel pain anymore, but as I started seeing changes in my body and gaining confidence from how I looked in the mirror, I realized I was no longer in pain, and my body was getting stronger. It’s been almost four years since I started training, and it’s made such a difference.”

When Kim Jong Kook jokingly said, “I can imagine your future looking something like mine,” Min Hyuk smiled and responded, “Honestly, I’m more nervous about this shoot than any other I’ve done. I’ve always been a fan of yours, but after starting my fitness journey, I really see you as my idol.” Kim Jong Kook graciously thanked him, replying, “Thank you.”

Min Hyuk also shared some insights into his workout routine. “I follow a four-day split routine, but when my schedule is hectic, I focus mainly on lower body exercises,” he explained. Kim Jong Kook approved, saying, “Focusing on lower body exercises is key to improving your back. It’s great to hear you’re prioritizing that.”

When asked about other idols with impressive physiques, Min Hyuk couldn’t help but mention Baekho. “Baekho stands out to me,” he said. “I’ve seen him on Gym Jong Kook, and I can’t help but click on his videos. He has such an amazing physique.”
