Former Female Professional Volleyball Player in her 30s Found Dead in a Jeonju Lodging Facility
Large Amounts of Briquettes Found Near Her
A female professional volleyball player in her 30s was found dead in a motel in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.
According to the North Jeolla Provincial Police Agency, on the 11th, former professional volleyball player “A” was found dead at a lodging facility in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju City, around 1:04 p.m. on the 8th.
After receiving a report from her family that they could not reach her after she left home, the police launched an investigation and found A collapsed in the motel.
The police said, “We found a large amount of briquettes around A,” and “No suicide note was found,” implying that she may have taken her own life.
A police official said, “We are trying to figure out the exact circumstances from the family and those around her,” and added that the possibility of a violent crime is low as there were no signs of intrusion from the outside.
A is said to have visited Jeonju on the day of the incident to spend time with her family.
Meanwhile, Choi Hong Suk, a former national volleyball player and commentator, passed away last January at 35.
The exact cause of her death has not been disclosed. The recent news of the death of volleyball players is heartrending.
