According to Chosun Central News Agency, on the 29th, Kim Jong Un, the Supreme leader of North Korea, visited the Naval Headquarters on the 28th to encourage the troops during Navy Day in North Korea.
The Central Broadcasting Station reported, “When our beloved Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the Naval Headquarters with his beloved family member, the naval troops cheered and celebrated with overwhelming enthusiasm and joy as they received the honor and special rewards on the meaningful founding anniversary of their Navy Day.”
The ‘beloved family member’ mentioned by the Central Broadcasting Station refers to Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae.
The fact that Kim Jong Un and Kim Ju Ae’s joint appearance was reported in North Korean media is the first time in over 100 days since the local map of the satellite launch preparation committee on May 16th.
According to the news agency, after receiving a briefing on the operational plans from the Naval Commander, leader Kim emphasized the need to firmly grasp the initiative in any unforeseen armed conflicts and wars and to overwhelm and destroy the enemies with a proactive and resolute offensive.
Furthermore, leader Kim added, “In accordance with the expansion policy of tactical nuclear operation revealed by the national nuclear force construction line, the military units will receive new weapons systems.” The news agency added, “Our Navy will become a constituent part of the national nuclear deterrence force performing strategic missions.”
During leader Kim’s visit to the Naval Headquarters, Ri Byong Chol, Secretary of the Workers’ Party, Park Jong Cheon, Deputy Director of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party, and Kang Sun Nam, Minister of Defense, accompanied him.
