Cheongju Heungdeok Police Station reveals the moment of reunion
A dramatic and tearful mother-daughter reunion
A mother and daughter separated 47 years ago had a dramatic reunion.
On the 13th, the Heungdeok Police Station in Cheongju revealed when a mother and daughter who had been separated for 47 years were dramatically reunited.
According to reports on the 14th by MBC News and others, the story goes as follows. In 1977, the mother, Mrs. A, promised a lifetime with her child’s father, but they couldn’t get married due to strong opposition from their families. Thinking that she could get married if she gave birth to a child, she decided to have a baby, but in the end, she could not get permission to marry.
Afterward, Mrs. A had no choice but to leave her child with the father due to the disapproving looks of people around her and difficult financial circumstances. When she went to find her child a few years later, she could only hear that someone else had already adopted the child.
The mother couldn’t forget her daughter even after more than 40 years and reportedly sought help by requesting the police to collect her DNA.
Upon hearing the heartbreaking story, the police immediately began searching for the whereabouts of Mrs. A’s daughter.
However, the child’s father had already passed away, and it was found that the child’s personal information provided by Mrs. A couldn’t be verified. But the police did not give up. They made every effort to find the daughter’s whereabouts through resident inquiries and investigations, and finally, in June, a reunion between the mother and daughter was held at the Heungdeok Police Station.
The first words Mrs. A uttered when she met her daughter after so many years were “my daughter,” according to the media. In the released video, Mrs. A burst into tears, saying, “I’m so sorry,” while her daughter held her hand and shed tears.
Jeon Ho-jin, a police officer at the Heungdeok Police Station, said to the media, “I cannot dare to understand the hearts of those who were separated for even longer than my age and for longer than the time I have lived. While watching them, I felt great reward in conducting the missing person investigation.”
It was reported that the police conveyed their hope for the mother and daughter to forget the painful times and be happy.
