Putin personally introduced AURUS to Kim Jong Un
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Russian luxury car Aurus, which he personally introduced to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, is drawing attention.
According to Russia’s TASS news agency, President Putin showed his black limousine Aurus to Kim at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Amur Oblast, Russia, on the 13th.
After Kim inspected President Putin’s car from the outside, he sat in the back seat where President Putin was sitting to test the ride quality and asked him questions. President Putin explained the car’s characteristics: “The car is called Aurus.”
Sky News UK reported Kim was happy with President Putin’s offer to ride his limousine.
President Putin moved with Kim in another Aurus vehicle, allowing Kim to see the sedan and limousine models of Aurus.
Aurus is Russia’s first luxury car brand known as the ‘Russian Rolls-Royce.’ It appeared at President Putin’s inauguration ceremony in May 2018 and is also provided as a ceremonial vehicle to foreign dignitaries.
According to The Sun UK, President Putin’s personal Aurus is an armored car weighing 7 tons, capable of withstanding bomb and chemical weapon attacks and ensuring the survival of passengers even if the vehicle is submerged in water.
It was reported that the design and production of this car cost 12.4 billion rubles (approx. $130 million).
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump also showed Kim his presidential limousine ‘Cadillac One’ during the North Korean Summit held in Singapore 2018.
After arriving at the station near the Vostochny Cosmodrome by a dedicated train for the North Korea-Russia Summit, Kim came to the meeting venue in a Maybach car from North Korea.
