Most Peaceful Countries, Ireland Takes 3rd, Denmark Claims 2nd – Who’s First?

Iceland has been selected as the most peaceful country in the world for 2023.

According to the “2023 Global Peace Index (GPI) Report” released by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IPE) in Australia on June 28th (local time). Denmark secures the second spot, followed by Ireland in third place.

This institute evaluates various factors such as social safety, domestic and international conflicts, and the extent of militarization to calculate the “Peace Index” every year.

This year, the global Peace Index averages a 0.42% deterioration compared to the previous year.

South Korea has improved its ranking by two places, now standing at 43rd compared to the previous year. Additionally, among Asian countries, South Korea holds the sixth position.

Singapore takes the lead among Asian nations, securing the first position. Following Singapore, the rankings in Asia are as follows: Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Mongolia, Laos, and others.

China has climbed six spots compared to the previous year, landing at the 80th position.

Iceland, which claims the top spot, is an island nation located in the North Atlantic Ocean in the northern region of Europe. It is generally considered the northwesternmost part of Northern Europe, between the Scandinavian Peninsula, the British Isles, Ireland, and Greenland.

Iceland is known for having the highest latitude in the Northern Hemisphere and being the farthest from the Antarctic. Its capital city is Reykjavik, and it covers a land area of 102,775 square kilometers, ranking 108th in the world in terms of land area. South Korea (South) ranks 109th, and Hungary ranks 110th, with similar land areas.
