Mbappé Rejects $776 Million Offer: Liverpool Eyes Star Player on a Free Transfer

Eugene Park Views

Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé turned down a transfer worth nearly $776 million last July. At the time, European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Saudi Arabian league’s Al Hilal had offered Mbappé a total of 700 million euros, including a fixed salary of 200 million euros, commercial rights, and portrait rights. The transfer fee of 300 million euros paid to the club is separate.

However, Mbappé, who had a one-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, rejected the offer and decided to stay with PSG. Of course, Real Madrid, which Mbappé wanted to go to, also made an offer, but he remained with PSG.

Mbappé, who had rejected a nearly $776 million salary for the first time in football history, is said to have the possibility of transferring to Liverpool in the English Premier League when he becomes a free agent in the transfer market next summer.

British media outlets uniformly reported on the 4th, citing French media, “Liverpool believes they can sign Mbappé. They have been in contact since 2017.”

According to the reports, the most active person in recruiting Mbappé is Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager. Therefore, there will be a chance to recruit Mbappé in the transfer market next summer.

Mbappé, who signed a two-year contract with PSG last year, refused the club’s request for a re-contract. Therefore, it is inevitable that he will leave PSG as soon as this season ends. Even during the last preseason, Mbappé refused the club’s request, and the club did not take him on the team’s tour of Japan and South Korea.

The problem is the value of Mbappé. Even if he becomes a free agent, his salary seems enormous. As mentioned earlier, Al Hilal called for a salary close to $776 million when everything was combined. Of course, if he transfers to a European league, he will not give 700 million euros.

The media predicted that the cost of signing Mbappé, even if he signs for free without a transfer fee, would be enormous. There has never been a player like Mbappé, who is currently in his prime, entering the market as a free agent. The club either sold in advance and received a transfer fee or re-contracted.

Even if Mbappé enters the market as a free agent, there will not be many clubs that can afford his salary. Of course, the team Mbappé wants is the top team in the league. In this situation, it is believed that Liverpool can sign Mbappé.

According to L’Equipe in France, Liverpool has been continually contacting Mbappé since 2017 and has a close relationship. In 2017, Mbappé transferred from Monaco in the French league to PSG.

No one knows whether Mbappé will wear Liverpool’s uniform as Klopp hopes. If this wish is fulfilled, the player who will be hit is Liverpool’s striker Mohamed Salah.

The media predicted Salah’s Liverpool career would end if Mbappé came to England. He transferred from AS Roma to Liverpool in 2017, but it is said that he will leave the team due to Mbappé.

Especially if Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad makes another offer, Liverpool is considering letting him go. Last summer, the Saudi team offered a transfer fee of 150 million pounds for Salah, but Liverpool refused.

Although Salah has shown his unrusty skills by scoring 10 goals in 14 games this season, it is said that Salah’s scoring ability will drop sharply if Mbappé is signed. This is because it will be difficult to seize the opportunity due to Mbappé.

Meanwhile, Mbappé’s current agent is his mother, Lamari. However, according to the new regulations of the International Football Federation, Lamari, who does not have a certificate, cannot represent her son. If this is violated, the player and the agent will have to pay a huge fine. Therefore, Mbappé will have to contract with another super agent instead of Lamari soon.
