Palisade Derivative Model
Night Edition Unveiled in the U.S.
Facing a Wave of Criticism Already
The Hyundai Palisade, a midsize SUV, recently introduced its new derivative model, the Night Edition. As this model is unavailable in the Korean market, it has garnered significant attention. It has recently made its full-fledged debut in the U.S.
However, the reaction of American consumers to the Palisade Night Edition has been far from ordinary. Some have even described the model as ‘nightmarish.’ So, what exactly is going on here?
The Arrival of the First Derivative Model
Palisade Night Edition
On March 3rd, Hyundai unveiled the specs and price of its flagship SUV, the Palisade Night Edition, to the U.S. market. The Palisade Night Edition is the first derivative model of the Palisade, based on the current model’s Calligraphy trim.
The most significant feature of this model, true to its name, is applying a black theme to its interior and exterior. This enhances the luxury and dynamism of the vehicle.
The Application of a Black Theme Throughout the Exterior and Interior
So, where exactly has the black theme been applied? On the exterior, the radiator grille, door side molding, rear bumper, and emblem all feature dark chrome. The distinguishing wheels of this model are enlarged to 20 inches (50.8 cm), and these, too, are finished in black. Additionally, the front and rear fascia, roof rails, and more have been transformed into black.
Inside, the center console material has been changed to dark aluminum. The seat covers are black suede, and black Nappa leather has been used in various places. Additionally, elements that add to the significance of this limited edition model have been added throughout the interior.
Facing a Barrage of Criticism for its $53,600 Price Tag
The local price of the Palisade Night Edition in the U.S. market is $53,600. Considering that the base trim of the existing model, the SE trim, starts from $36,400, and there is a significant $1,500 difference from the same Calligraphy trim, this is undoubtedly a hefty price.
In response, local U.S. consumers have described the Palisade Night Edition as “a nightmare.” The Palisade is perceived in the U.S. market as an affordable midsize SUV, offering excellent value for money. It was a car that people could enjoy reasonably, but with the price increase, some say there’s no reason to buy it. Hyundai has yet to comment on this matter.
