Hip-hop singer Timbaland’s remarks have sparked controversy.
On the 8th, E! News reported that comments made by Timbaland at a Q&A held at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on the 29th last month had angered fans of pop star Britney Spears.
During Timbaland’s performance, an audience member mentioned that “Cry Me A River,” a song he co-wrote with Britney’s ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, was making headlines in Britney’s memoir. This prompted an immediate response from Timbaland.
Timbaland replied, “I wanted to call JT (Justin Timberlake) and say, ‘We need to gag that woman.'” He added, “We live in the age of social media, and everyone wants to spread rumors. That’s how you make money.”
He was insensitive to Britney Spears’ pain regarding her abortion, making offensive remarks.
These comments quickly spread through social media, as he suggested, and drew much criticism. Netizens harshly criticized him, saying, “It’s funny that a terrible person like Timbaland goes around saying whatever he wants,” and “It’s 2023, and a woman has to be gagged for telling the truth?”
E! News attempted to contact Timbaland’s side for a statement, but they refused to comment.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears garnered significant attention with the release of her memoir, The Woman in Me, on September 24th. The memoir includes shocking revelations about Britney’s journey to becoming a pop star, her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, her abortion, and exploitation by her conservator father, which stunned everyone.
Since then, Justin has consistently remained silent, refusing to comment on the ‘forced abortion’ controversy. He has yet to make any statement about the incident.
