Chinese President Xi Jinping has accepted President Joe Biden’s invitation to visit the United States. From the 14th to the 17th, he will attend the U.S.-China summit in San Francisco and the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

The world’s attention is now focused on San Francisco. The international community hopes that the U.S.-China summit will steer the relationship between the two countries towards healthy and stable development. It is viewed as beneficial and necessary for the two superpowers to continue dialogue. Some expect strengthened cooperation between the two sides to drive global economic recovery, politically resolve regional and international issues, and provide new momentum in responding to global challenges. At the same time, the international community will pay attention to President Xi’s important assertions on deepening cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and improving global governance. They believe President Xi’s visit will contribute to greater development and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.

◇Promoting Coexistence, Cooperation, and Win-Win between China and the U.S.

The ‘U.S.-China Summit’ has emerged as a focal point of interest for the international community. The international community has shown deep interest in the summit between the two countries, which was reconvened a year later under the agenda set at the Bali meeting. Overseas figures hope that under the guidance of summit diplomacy, the U.S. and China will continue to promote cooperation for mutual benefits, benefiting both countries and the world.

Tom Watkins, former advisor to the Michigan China Innovation Center in the U.S., said, “It is very important to establish a constructive relationship because both the U.S. and China are countries with strong influences.” He added, “Under the leadership of the leaders of both countries, I look forward to them establishing a common vision and agenda, having honest conversations about disagreements, and laying the foundation for peace and prosperity around the world.”

“The U.S.-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world today, and the good or bad of the U.S.-China relationship has a significant impact on the world order.”

Ronnie Lins, director of the China-Brazil Research and Business Center, expressed his hope that this summit will halt the decline and stabilize U.S.-China relations.

Jeon Byung-seo, director of the Korea China Economic and Financial Research Institute, diagnosed that U.S.-China cooperation benefits the two countries and the world. He added, “I hope this summit will be an opportunity for the U.S. and China to jointly explore effective ways to ensure peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.”

◇Promoting Joint Development and Future Co-Creation in the Asia-Pacific Region

According to a report by the Asian Development Bank, China has played a significant role in the Asia-Pacific region’s economic recovery, contributing to over 60% of the region’s economic growth.

Wang Desheng, a current affairs commentator in Singapore, defined China as a ‘key factor driving growth in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.’ He emphasized, “China has proven to the world that ‘decoupling,’ suppression, and repression do not work, and cooperation and win-win are the wise choices.” He predicted that the Chinese proposals put forward by President Xi at this meeting will “bring more development opportunities to the region in the future.”

He added, “I hope that China will bring new opportunities for cooperation in economy, culture, and green growth to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.”

◇Injecting More Stability and Positive Energy into the World

Many overseas figures have expressed their expectation that President Xi’s visit will unfold new thinking and provide new wisdom in responding to global challenges and improving global governance while injecting more stability and positive energy into a chaotic world. Over the past few years, they have consistently contributed to world peace, development, and prosperity.

She said, “China’s claims and China’s role are playing a very active role in promoting peaceful coexistence and joint development of various countries.”

Koh King Kee, director of the Malaysia New Asia Strategy Research Center (CNIA), said the geopolitical conflicts are happening here. This has brought uncertainty to the world, and he believes that President Xi’s visit will inject stronger power into the completion of global governance. He believes that countries in the Asia-Pacific region and the world will join hands and move towards a more prosperous future.
