The film Thriller 40 will make its exclusive debut on the domestic OTT platform through Tving’s Paramount+ Brand Pavilion on December 2 (Saturday). The official trailer, released today (14th), is drawing much attention.
Thriller 40 is a documentary focused on the record-breaking best-selling album Thriller by ‘Artist of the Century’ Michael Jackson.
Directed by musicologist Nelson George, who published Jackson’s biography in 1983, the documentary features the making process and behind-the-scenes of Jackson’s hit “Thriller,” which sold 140 million copies worldwide and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. It also includes explanations about music videos for tracks such as “Billie Jean” and “Beat It.” The documentary will be released on December 2 (Saturday) through Tving’s ‘Paramount+ Brand Pavilion.’
In 2022, it had private screenings in just eight cities worldwide, one of which took place at CGV Yongsan in Korea on November 30. It is expected to bring great excitement to global fans who love Michael Jackson, as it will be released through the domestic OTT platform Paramount+ Brand Pavilion to soothe the regret of the previous private screening.
Along with this, the official trailer released today (14th) captures attention with unprecedented praises and exclusive interviews from world-renowned musicians and artists such as Usher, Mary J. Blige, will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas, DJ and composer Mark Ronson, and ballet dancer Misty Copeland.
In particular, music journalist Steven Ivory reveals, “The history of the music industry is divided into two: before and after Thriller,” with the copy “An album that changed everything,” hinting at Michael Jackson’s status as the most influential musician in the history of popular music.
Furthermore, Usher says, “When I hear Michael’s songs, I want to dance along,” Mary J. Blige comments, “The moonwalk was shocking,” will.i.am states, “Thriller is the blueprint of modern pop and would have been the best album even if it was released now,” Mark Ronson adds, “It has all the elements I like.” These acclaims naturally increase interest in the life record of ‘The King of Pop’ Michael Jackson, which will be unveiled through ‘Paramount+ Brand Pavilion.’
Thriller sold 140 million copies at the time of its release, making it the best-selling album in the world and Michael Jackson’s biggest hit listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Especially, “Billie Jean,” the sixth track on Thriller, topped the Billboard chart for six consecutive weeks from March 5, 1983, earning Michael Jackson the title of King of Pop.
In addition, it won eight categories, including Record of the Year at the 1984 Grammy Awards. As such, the legendary album that recorded an unprecedented hit amplifies fans’ anticipation for the shining moments of Michael Jackson’s life that they will see again.
