A video of a high school girl confronting her teacher has sparked controversy.
On the 22nd, a video titled “High School Girl Confronts Her Teacher” was posted on an online community.
In the video, a middle-aged male teacher and a high school girl are arguing in a high school hallway. The teacher gestures for the girl to “go in,” to which she responds, “Why are you yelling at me? Am I not someone’s precious daughter, too?”
When the teacher appears taken aback, the girl retorts, “I’m not someone you can treat so casually. Why did you grab my hair?”
The teacher tries to explain, “I grabbed your bag. Your hair was tangled in the strap,” but the girl raises her voice, insisting, “(You) grabbed my hair.”
The frustrated teacher says, “Are you happy? Is this fun? Go ahead, then,” and attempts to leave, but the girl sarcastically asks, “Did you enjoy grabbing my hair, teacher?”
Eventually, the teacher leaves the scene, saying, “I’ll report this to the committee (Teacher’s Rights Protection Committee),” to which the girl responds, “Go ahead, report it to the committee.”
The video appears to have been filmed by a female student, presumably a friend of the girl in the video, who can be heard laughing throughout the recording.
It was later revealed that the incident occurred when the teacher caught the girl going to the school store during class time. The teacher tried to stop her by grabbing her bag, inadvertently pulling her hair in the process, which led to the girl’s protest.
Meanwhile, a representative from the relevant education office explained in an interview with Chosun.com, “The video was shot last March, and both girls have since dropped out of school due to personal circumstances.”
They added, “According to the school, the girl, identified as ‘A,’ had resolved the misunderstanding with the teacher and was doing well at school before she dropped out. She now feels sorry for the teacher in the video.”
