On the 22nd, the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries issued a statement condemning North Korea’s launch of a reconnaissance satellite.
According to a joint statement released by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 22nd, the G7 foreign ministers “strongly condemn the launch using North Korea’s ballistic missile technology.” Also, they pointed out that it “poses a serious threat to peace and stability both within and outside the region.”
Furthermore, they stated that “even if it is a military reconnaissance satellite, the launch using ballistic missile technology is a clear violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions.”
They “reiterate their condemnation of North Korea’s transfer of weapons to Russia” and added that they are “deeply concerned about the possibility of transferring nuclear and ballistic missile-related technology from North Korea.”
