North Korean leader Kim Jong Un emphasized a “strong against strong” stance by calling the ICBM launch team.
According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 21st, Kim mentioned at a meeting at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee on the 18th, where he called the members of the 2nd Red Flag Regiment of the Missile General Bureau who participated in the launch training of the Mars-18 type ICBM, “If we are attacked with nuclear weapons, retaliate with nuclear weapons.”
Kim said, “The military activity that the regiment boldly executed upon receiving the party’s combat command this time is a display of our force’s loyalty to the defense of the sovereignty of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and our firm stance.”
He further evaluated, “It was a clear explanation of the evolution of our aggressive response method and our nuclear strategy and nuclear doctrine when the enemy provokes us with nuclear weapons.”
He added, “I am deeply impressed by the high mobility and rapid attack ability shown in the launch training, and I expect that by thoroughly preparing to be able to perform their mission of nuclear war deterrence at any time, they will faithfully fulfill their sacred mission of preventing war and protecting peace,” according to the news agency.
Earlier, the military authorities of South Korea, the United States, and Japan entered the North Korean missile warning information real-time sharing system operation on the 19th. As a result, a 24/7 surveillance system for North Korea’s ballistic missile launches has been activated.
The leaders of South Korea, the United States, and Japan agreed at the Camp David Summit in August to operate a real-time information-sharing system among the three countries this year to respond more effectively to North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats.
Meanwhile, the event was attended by Kim Jong Sik, Deputy Director of the Military Industry Department of the Party Central Committee, and Jang Chang Ha, Director of the Missile General Bureau.
