Accompanied by his daughter Kim Ju-ae, Kim Jong-un inspected the ICBM launcher factory emphasizing the need to enhance production capabilities for national defense.
The KCNA reported on the 5th that Kim had conducted on-site guidance at the ‘important military vehicle production factory’.
The news agency stated, “(Kim) comprehensively grasped the production status by observing the large launch vehicles and various military vehicles produced in the factory.”
During his tour of the factory, Kim expressed encouragement stating, “It is heartening to see the shining achievements being made in the production struggle.”
Kim emphasized, “The production of strategic missile launchers is a paramount task for strengthening national defense,” and added, “The position and role of this factory in the historic task of strengthening our national defense which we are tirelessly pursuing in the grave current situation of needing to be more firmly prepared for military confrontation with the enemies are extremely important.”
He further noted the “importance of the production of various tactical and strategic weapon launch vehicles in continuously strengthening the country’s nuclear war deterrent,” and elaborated on the “tasks for the production plan and prospective production plan and the establishment of production capabilities for each type of launcher,” the news agency reported.
Kim also took significant measures related to the expansion of factory capabilities stating, “The factory must continue to achieve leaps in the production struggle to modernize our military more radically.”
The photos released by the news agency captured a new solid-fuel ICBM Hwasong-18 mobile launcher (TEL), and five launchers presumed to be for the liquid-fuel ICBM Hwasong-17 were also seen.
Kim’s daughter Ju-ae also accompanied him on the factory tour. Party secretaries Jo Chun Ryong, Jo Yong Won, and Ri Il Hwan, along with Kim Yo Jong, the party’s deputy director, and missile bureau leaders, also accompanied Kim.
