The Korean Central News Agency reported on August 8 that North Korean State Affairs Chairman Kim Jong Un visited the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory (poultry farm) with his daughter Ju Ae.
Despite the military tensions heightened by the North Korean military authorities continuing artillery fire in the vicinity of the northwest coast for three days starting from the 5th, Chairman Kim is interpreted as staging a focus on the livelihood economy.
According to the report, Chairman Kim stated during his visit to the poultry farm, “It is a historical example worthy of pride and a goal that all units striving for modernization should reach, as the party wishes and demands.” He also mentioned, “The party is planning to establish another factory like the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory in Pyongyang within this year.”
He added, “It’s gratifying to see meat and eggs pouring out from the modernized production process. We must relentlessly improve our production capacity to deliver more meat and eggs to the people.”
The report also emphasized that Chairman Kim stressed the need to modernize poultry production bases nationwide based on the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory to bring about substantial changes in people’s lives.
Along with his daughter Ju Ae, the visit was attended by Prime Minister Kim Tok Hun, Party Secretaries Ri Il Hwan, Jon Hyon Chol, and O Su Yong, Party Agriculture Department Director Ju Chol Gyu, and Party Deputy Directors Kim Yo Jong and Hyon Song Wol.
It is unusual for Ju Ae to accompany Chairman Kim’s economic activities. Since her first appearance, Ju Ae has accompanied Chairman Kim on his public activities a total of 23 times according to the Rodong Sinmun reports, 19 of which were military-related schedules.
