North Korea announced on the 15th that it had successfully test-fired an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) using solid fuel.
The North Korean missile command said, “On the afternoon of the 14th, we conducted a test launch of a medium-range solid-fuel ballistic missile equipped with a hypersonic maneuvering warhead,” and the state-run media Korean Central News Agency reported that “the test launch was successful.”
The missile command claimed, “This test launch did not have any impact on the safety of neighboring countries and was conducted completely irrelevant to the regional situation,” and it was “part of regular activities to develop powerful weapon systems.”
The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that North Korea launched a medium-range ballistic missile toward the East Sea from the vicinity of Pyongyang at around 2:55 pm the day before, and this missile landed in the East Sea after flying approximately 1000 km.
